Why Locals Love Restaurante Zurita
Restaurante Zurita is a vibrant bar & grill nestled right on Av. del Cristo, just steps away from the sun-kissed shores of Ojos de Garza, Las Palmas. This local gem perfectly marries the relaxed beachside vibe with authentic Canarian flavors, making it a must-visit for travelers and locals alike who crave an inviting atmosphere and satisfying, hearty meals.
Step inside, and you are greeted by the warm buzz of friendly chatter and a view that blends the blue sea horizon with planes gracefully taking off from the nearby airport. This unique backdrop adds an energetic yet laid-back feel to every dining experience here. Whether you’re enjoying a casual coffee or a full meal, the setting invites you to savor not just food but a memorable moment.
Cuisine-wise, Restaurante Zurita champions traditional Spanish and Canarian dishes with a focus on seafood that echoes the freshness of the nearby ocean. Customers consistently praise the impressive portions—perfect for those who appreciate generous servings without breaking the bank. Favorites include their homemade fries, papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes), and tender meatballs highlighted by robust, local flavors. Adventurous eaters might find the water snails an intriguing and surprising taste adventure, reminiscent of liver in texture, noted by a discerning guest as a unique palate experience.
While some dishes, like the deep-fried fish, have been noted to be a bit overcooked by certain patrons, the overall food quality and authenticity shine through. The seafood is notably fresh and tasty, delivering on the promise of genuine local cuisine at compelling value. It's clear that this is not a Michelin-starred setting but rather an honest, homegrown eatery where the heart and soul of Canarian cooking come alive.
The service mirrors the casual, welcoming nature of the place – straightforward, attentive, and never leaving guests waiting long, even in peak times. Visitors often comment on the friendly staff and the relaxed pace that allows for savoring both the food and the vibrant surroundings.
Whether you're dropping by for a strong coffee to kickstart your day, indulging in a morning cortado or cappuccino, or sticking around for a meaty lunch or dinner, Restaurante Zurita offers a satisfying escape with a beach vibe that’s both refreshing and authentic. The noise from the nearby airport might be a surprise, but for many, it enhances the thrill of the location, especially for plane enthusiasts who get a front-row seat to take-offs every few minutes.
For anyone exploring Ojos de Garza or just passing through Las Palmas, Restaurante Zurita promises not only a meal but a full sensory experience: the salty ocean breeze, local aromas, hearty flavors, and a lively atmosphere that together paint a true picture of the Canary Islands’ coastal charm.

We had rented airbnb very nearby this place. We were visiting nearly everyday. Implication of it is, we tried nearly everything. Staff was friendly and even within busiest time we never waited to long. About the food. Water snails isnt my flavour, but definitely nice to try out. Similiar to liver in taste, which is suprising. Deep fried fish, was way to dry. Over fried. But homemade fries and rest from the card was delish! See attached pictures. Biggest beer bottle is 0.33. If you are around, definitely pay a visit.

Crazy cheap prices and super good seafood. I see some reviews about bad service and I thought not to try it because of this, but let’s be real. It’s a restaurant run by local people not a 5 star Michelin restaurant. The service is good enough to enjoy the delicious food and amazing view of the beach. Big recommend although the opinions are mid!

Great cappuccino, cortado and orange juice. We had papas arrugadas and meatballs which were delicious and had a good price. The restaurant is directly next to the beach and the airport - you can see a plane start every five minutes. It's a bit noisy but if you enjoy watching airplanes then it's a good spot to watch them.

It’s almost tradition now to pass by Zurita after arriving in Gran Canaria. The restaurant is right next to the airport, on a cute little beach. I am always welcomed by amazing fish, grilled cheese with honey (my recommendation besides all the amazing fish dishes), a cañita or a tropi limon, and by a beautiful view. Card payment is possible, and for desert you can grab a nice variety of ice cream walking back to your car. Overall, I love this little village, the restaurant, and the location so close to the airport - observing the planes leaving the island. Note: this is a place where planes pass by. If you like to see aircraft’s heading out, this might be your favorite spot on the island. If you don’t like the noise, it’s nothing for you. Also, make sure you come early, or with a reservation. This place gets crowded during peak hours, and you might have to wait. But - it’s worth it!

What a fantastic find! We were looking for a place to eat near the airport and discovered Zurita. Nestled on the edge of a small bay, this charming place offers everything you want - view, atmosphere and simple, fresh, tasty seafood. I enjoyed a large mixed salad and Galician octopus. Both were delicious. The octopus was the star. Wish I had time to order it again. Parking can be a challenge but it’s worth it. Arrive early or take a taxi.

A half hour walk from the airport. This is far better than waiting 6 hours at the airport:) Good food. Local. Maybe needed one extra person to help with service when it was busy. Watch the airplanes fly by.
